POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title:  Delivery Driver/Warehouse Associate

This position is in Carolina Pride’s Timberlake, N.C. warehouse

The Basic Function of this position is to accomplish deliveries of any product(s) and/or part(s) at the lowest possible cost for the quality specified.  Delivery work may be intrastate or interstate.  Delivery is provided each day of each calendar year.  In addition, he/she handles basic daily warehouse operations at the Timberlake facility.

The individual in this position reports directly to the Warehouse Manager.  There are no employees reporting to the Delivery Driver.

The Delivery Driver/Warehouse Associate represents the company when at a customer site and must maintain a level of professionalism at all times.

The Delivery Driver/Warehouse Associate has the following responsibilities: 

  1. Deliver soap and supplies to customers ranging in 5 gallons to 55 gallons containers.
  2. Maintain at least a Class B valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), with HAZMAT endorsement.
  3. Must be able to travel and stay overnight.
  4. Conduct with customers reflecting courtesy, integrity, and good workmanship.
  5. Completing specified assignments in as little time as required meeting quality standards.
  6. Safeguard company and customer information and valuable equipment.
  7. Complete all records of contacts, time and travel on a daily basis.
  8. Maintain the highest level of delivery and assistance possible.
  9. Always work efficiently.
  10. Provide a status of delivery performed in-house or on-site per sales ticket.
  11. Assist in delivery of new equipment.
  12. Comply with pertinent codes and regulations, i.e., OSHA and DOT.
  13. Must be able to read and understand the English language.
  14. Receiving & Stocking – unload all vehicles and receive all merchandise. Prepare and distribute receiving documents in a timely & accurate manner.  Adheres to vendor and carrier procedures for loss and damage.  All receiving is done on a “blind basis” per company procedure.  Unload & put up soap stock.
  15. Warehousing – ensures that material is stored according to company procedures & inventory class. There should be “a place for everything & everything in its place”.  This applies to merchandise, tools & equipment.  A Locator System is used for inventory control & accurate stocking of material.

The following list of Duties must be accomplished according to the schedule.  Most of these are to be accomplished each day unless otherwise specified.

  1. Maintain good, clear communication on daily basis with Customer Service Coordinators and Warehouse Manager.
  2. Be properly equipped for delivery work.
  3. Arrive on time at the customer scheduled deliveries.
  4. Perform necessary deliveries assigned by supervisor.
  5. Notify Customer Service Coordinator of customer concerns or problems.
  6. Assist Customers as needed
  7. Clean and inspect delivery vehicles each week.
  8. Prepare a Field Report of hours, materials, and conditions for delivery.
  9. Good driving record.
  10. Completes Customer Delivery documentation.
  11. Maintain a neat appearance and wear proper clothing.
  12. Clean and inventory proper tools and parts on vehicle.
  13. Accurate billing and safe handling of funds, as needed.
  14. Perform all other reasonably comparable tasks as required by the Warehouse Manager.
  15. Do warehouse service and assistance in a timely and efficient manner.
  16. Maintain a clean & organized work area. There is “a place for everything & everything in its place”.  Return company tools to their proper location.
  17. Respect others workspace.
  18. Adheres to customer’s safety policies.
  19. Punches timecard in a timely & accurate manner.
  20. Maintenance – Maintains warehouse, parts department, and loading areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  21. Abide by all DOT regulations, guidelines, and ELD logs.

Physical demands of this position require mobility to maneuver around customers sites plus moderate physical work that involves some heavy lifting with a minimum of 125 lbs. and use of both small and large hand tools, as well as moving and maneuvering up to 55 gallon drums of product, both on and off a truck and/or trailer.  This may include climbing stairs or ladders.  This individual is required to have the ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle & drive hundreds of miles within DOT parameters.

Mental demands include working knowledge of DOT regulations and OSHA regulations for proper handling hazardous chemicals, ability to read and understand the English language.  In addition, he/she must have mathematical ability to count and inventory, interpret job specifications, good verbal & written communication, good people skills and ability to make quality control decisions.

Working conditions may require the wearing of safety equipment when on site.  The work involves routine hazards of operating equipment and hazardous and/or pressurized chemicals present.  Working conditions may include heat & cold temperatures; dust and noise.

  10. Does not abuse or take advantage of personal days off or office hours.
  11. Always provides proper notification & advance notice of absence.
  12. Adheres to all company safety policies.

The performance of the associates will be graded and measured on the following criteria:

Jobs will be completed correctly according to specifications within estimated time.  There will be few, if any, instances of customer concerns, rework, extra-unplanned trips & personal time during working hours.  Contact with the Car Care Manager will be in line with current policy.  Vehicles will be operated with care and in compliance with legal requirements.  Paperwork will be completed according to policy.  Time will be accurately reported.  Obtaining the continuous training and knowledge and mastery of the skills for the vehicles operated and products handled.  Professionalism must be demonstrated in dealing with customers.

Applicant must have a positive attitude, be reliable, have a clean driving record, be able to lift, climb ladders/steps, and have forklift experience.  Must also be able to pass drug screening/background check.

Compensation rate is based on experience.
